We've almost reached the third week of May and so the next focus is Deep Cleaning the bathroom. It's time to spend a bit of extra time on the grout or maybe the shower door. Make sure you lift those bath mats and give them an extra wash this week or take down the shower curtain. Maybe it's the plugs and ensuring that you've given an extra clean to clear the drain of any lingering products.

Whatever the thing is that you need to focus on in your bathroom, let us know how you get on with that extra bit of time spent on your deep clean.

Name: Mr. Fox

Age: 30-something

I mostly post about:
Stories from my life — my thoughts and feelings, especially during this time of war in Ukraine. I try to capture emotions honestly: memories of a peaceful past, reflections on the present, and tales from my life as a mariner and traveler.
This journal is still in its early days, after a long break from writing. Each entry is posted in both English and the original language. I also share my own photographs — from different times, chosen to reflect my current mood.

My hobbies are:
Photography (almost professional), lomography (daily photos of interesting moments), music (acoustic, alternative, instrumental covers), psychology, and classical literature. I love discovering new things — ideas, places, people.

My fandoms are:

Honestly, I’m not active in any specific fandom. But I enjoy reading and learning, especially to improve my English.

I'm looking to meet people who:
…feel connected to what I write — kindred spirits or simply those who find meaning in my words. I’m open to everyone (with one exception: I don’t welcome those who support or excuse the war). My posts are open and honest. I’d love to find new interesting people to read and connect with.

My posting schedule tends to be:
Currently daily, or a few times a week — depending on my free time.

When I add people, my dealbreakers are:
No major dealbreakers — most of what matters is already said above.

Before adding me, you should know:

I’m an open person without any particular agenda. I’m Ukrainian — and perhaps that matters now, just to avoid misunderstandings.
Welcome aboard. These are my messages in a bottle.

Greetings

Name: Chris

Age: 20-something

I mostly post about: cartoons and video games that absolutely didn't have me as the target audience (like, stuff for girls, but i'm not a girl lol), my beautiful life, whatever i'm currently enjoying, art because i draw, photography because i take photos, translation because i translate, and i like to share links (which are mostly about leftism, history, language, cultures, ~otaku~ stuff, race, webcomics, etc.)

My hobbies are: besides the ones previously stated and the ones implied (such as playing video games), i also like to listen to music

My fandoms are: honestly, i don't think i'm "a part" of any fandom. i do my own thing. but i do like angelique, fire emblem (4 and 16 the best), and guilty gear. in general, i like shoujo animanga and otome games a lot. visual kei too. for all things i like, i lean towards things from around my year of birth and earlier.

I'm looking to meet people who: won't mind my nonsense on their reading pages, since finding people with the exact same interests is impossible. people with adjacent interests would be nice. so would people who translate, speak japanese or spanish, are transgender, or are black. being nonjudgmental and accepting of weirdos is a requirement.

My posting schedule tends to be: near daily if you're on my access list, but if not then... definitely frequent, but could vary from daily to monthly.

When I add people, my dealbreakers are: bigots with a special emphasis on transphobia and racism, posting mainly about live-action shows unless the cast is all or mostly POC, anti-socialists, netflixvania fans, being rude and mean for no apparent reason

Before adding me, you should know: you should read my sticky <3 thanks for reading all this. nice to meet you ^^

Firstly an apology - I did post right at the beginning of the month - but it landed in my journal rather than in the comm - oops! So here's a repeat of that post - feel free to pick up with either week 1 or week 2 as fits for you:

Happy May to Everyone!

May's theme moves on to the idea of Deep Cleaning parts of our home. It's an opportunity to really concentrate in on getting in and making a difference while doing a serious clean of areas in your home. Depending on your particular position in regard to your space on how you tackle this and what you might want to take it to mean.

My thoughts are that this could be an opportunity to pick up those tasks that we don't need to do so often - like windows and carpets but I know that in certain areas of the house, intending to clean the carpet for me is a step ahead of where I am so rather than cleaning the carpet what I really need to do is get rid of the extraneous clutter and really clear the carpet space so that cleaning it becomes an option later.

So interpret this how best suits you - if it best suits to work towards creating the environment where a specific type of clean becomes possible, that's good too.

Week one's focus is on windows and doors. So it might mean clean windows either inside or out (or both if you have time and energy and ability to do so) or it might mean clearing/cleaning the space near the window so that later you have the option to work on the window. It might mean giving a door a good clean to rid it of dust that's accumulated and sticky fingerprints or just making sure that you've got rid of those germs that build up on handles.

Monthly plan
Week 1. Windows and Doors
Week 2. Carpets/Floors (this can be giving an area a thorough vaccuum/brush/wash as needed or clearing more of the floor that later this because an option)
Week 3. Bathroom - take a bit of extra time to clean the grout between tiles, deep clean the sink/bath
Week 4. Curtains or revisit - speaking personally despite all the other issues I have with keeping my space organised and as clean as I want, I do like to try and wash the curtains once a year to reduce dust and allergens - when I do this somewhat depends on time and weather - trying to get the curtains washed and dried in a day so that I can get them back in the windows in time can be a struggle. So I shall put it here as an option because even if I got just one set done I'd be pleased but if the weather isn't in my favour then it's a good chance to carry on tackling one of the earlier areas as I'm sure I won't have finished them all.

We'd love to hear how your work on this week's 'Windows and doors' challenge progressed. Remember even a 10 -15 minutes stint could have the inside of a window clean or a door wiped down properly. Have a great week.
