Busy busy busy
May. 24th, 2014 12:03 pmWell things around here have been busy to say the least. This summer isn't looking much better. Between work and trying to catch kaleb up in school I'm going to have a full plate. He's got 9 days of school left.
He's going to be going to the second grade. We had a meeting with his teacher and assistant principal a couple weeks ago. I asked for the meeting because I was concerned about how he has been doing. They said he's on grade level and math is a struggle for him. We moved him up to tier 2 in math so he gets intervention time 3 times a week (it's usually 1 on 1 but can be up to 3 on 1 depending upon the amount of students needing intervention). Then every 2 weeks a panel meets (teacher, principal, counselor, interventionalist, and a couple other staff members) to review his work to see how he's doing. If he continues to struggle, then he will go to tier 3 and that is the level that they recommend testing for special needs. His teacher and assistant principal just feel that he fell behind when we were getting his ADHD testing done and getting him started on medicine and with the help of the interventionalist we will figure out where he's behind and get him caught up.
This summer were going to do a workbook (similar to what would be used in homeschooling) and hopefully he won't loose as much over the summer.
We've also requested a specific teacher for next year. Aaron runs the scoreboard for the high school soccer team when he can and kaleb is the ball boy (when he wants to) and the coach is a 2nd grade teacher at his school so we think that relationship would help him out (he really likes and respects coach).
(no subject)
Feb. 17th, 2014 12:08 amHow is everything going out there? Things here pretty much suck. Kaleb is doing better in school but still struggling. He's still failing language arts (spelling) and not reading at the level his teacher feels he should be at. I get the feeling that we are going to be talking about repeating 1st grade at parent teacher conference next month.
Been trying hard to get the apartment organized, get rid of clutter, etc but it seems like each day I try I take 2 steps backwards instead of making any progress.
I got a galaxy tablet and coach purse for valentines day. The tablet was "free" from sprint because we upgraded plans when Aaron got a new phone. It would have been better if it was an iPad but oh well. I just have to remember which one I'm using at the time. I keep trying to do iPhone things on the tablet and it just doesn't work.
Well melatonin is kicking in. Time for bed.
yet.
The internal power supply has gone out on the desktop computer. I'm debating we need to fix it or replace the whole computer. The desktop is 6 years old, needs a new cdrom drive (kaleb stripped the open/close gears out) and it could use a good system clean as I have been having lots of problems getting updates to install or using the system backup feature. Any suggestions? I'm thinking, if I replace, I'll go to a laptop but I'm not sure yet.
So hopefully soon I'll get to get back into the swing of things.
I think I've had the Christmas tree lights on more in 4 days than the whole time it was up last year. First thing Kaleb does when we get home is ask to turn it on and he will just sit there and watch it all the time. It's keeping him happy so I will not fight him.
Kaleb is going to be 5 two weeks from Friday. I can't believe that he is almost 5 already. Just seems like yesterday we were bringing him home from the hospital.
Still working the same job. Nothing changed there. Well, that's about all that is going on. Now I need to go make lunch.
I posted pics on twitter @jeslowe115
At first I thought it was a reaction to laundry detergent or a medicine but I changed detergent 2 weeks ago (back to the old stuff) and stopped taking the medicine in question 5 days ago. And it's only getting worse!
Well the past couple days, I've noticed that I'm broke out and itchy and the only major change is the laundry detergent. So my lesson of the day, pay the extra for the free and clear if need be.
Not much else going on here. Just work and the normal daily living type things. Still at the same job. Just ready for summer to be over with so the temperature will start to cool off.
Wish I was getting ready to go back to wisconsin next weekend but I have to work and I just don't feel like spending 17 hours (twice) in a car. I guess that's a sign I'm getting old.
Well, got to go finish laundry.
